That's right, i'm not going to vote tomorrow. And here's why. My caucus isn't part of Super Tuesday. It's kind of a bummer for me, I want to participate in the excitement and hype of Super Tuesday, but instead, I have to wait until "That Tuesday after Super Tuesday". I just recieved my absentee ballot by fax courtesy of the Maine DNC (thanks guys!) because i'm in Colorado, and I just finished filling it out.
I'm voting for Barack Obama. The main reason he gets my vote is because he excites me. I've never felt this feeling that I feel when I hear him talk. I feel like a real change can happen. And i'm not talking about change on just a policy level, i'm talking about a total change in climate. And it's not just me that's excited, it's everyone my age (who didn't drink their parents kool-aid). I work at a large ski resort, mainly inhabited by 18-24yr old ski/snowboard bums. Just for the fun of it, I like to ask people what they think of this upcoming election...
Just about everyone I've spoken to raves about Obama. They talk about change. They tell me that because of Obama, they're starting to feel hope in our country and it's political process. They, as well as I, used to get dragged down by the fact that nothing seems to change. And when things do change, it's not in our benefit. We've watched over the past 7 years as the Bush Administration has destroyed just about everything we hold dearly in this country. From our foriegn relations, to our military, our economy, and our health care system.
It's time to bring a candidate in who will bring on real change. And like I mentioned before, i'm not just looking for a change in policy. I honestly don't believe Hillary Clinton will bring on this level of change that i'm looking for, though I don't doubt for one minute that she would bring a change that would be better than what we're dealing with now. And just to let you know, if she's the nominee, i'll work my ass off to help ensure she wins the general election. But for now, i'm pulling for Barack Obama.
Change and Hope in '08!
